Waiting Room

Day 23 SOL
Today I thought I 'd try a poem about a medical waiting room.  We were the lucky ones, our appointment was on time, but most others were waiting for hours.  Thankful I grabbed a book as we raced out the door to head to the appointment.

Waiting Room

I am the encourager

Not the patient

Only to find that
I can

NOT

come back
with my patient

Must wait

In waiting

Room

comfortable chairs
no one talking
open book
close eyes
doze lightly

only to be
Jumped out
of trance

  1. "Patients out of
patience" certainly captures the feelings of being in a waiting room. Your slice expresses this experience well.

  2. Could really relate to this part of your poem
    "Patients out of
    patience
    voices raised
    faces drained".
Been there...but I'm not complaining. Like you, I take a book.

  3. Why is it that waiting in the waiting room always seems to be forever. Why are we called "patients"? I can truly feel your anxieties in waiting. Great poem and lots of feelings.

  4. What grabbed me..."I am only the daughter waiting nervously"- I guess because I have been the waiting daughter many times, too. Thanks for capturing the experience with words! I'll think of them when i'm in the waiting room next time.

  5. Waiting rooms are my least favorite places. Hopefully the person you took is alright.

  6. I'll take this poem with me in my heart to Colorado in a couple of weeks.

Love the way you captured your ideas inside the shape of the poem.
